TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – The official fifth annual 2016 Mayor’s River O’Green fest is set for March 19. This is an annual St. Patrick’s Day event that takes place at the Curtis Hixon Park.
On that day, Mayor Bob Buckhorn’s crews will dye the river kelly-green between the Cass Street Bridge and the Kennedy Bridge. The dye is potable water grade, non-toxic, and biodegradable; it’s used primarily to trace leaks and in search and rescue efforts in large bodies of water, according to the mayor’s office.
In addition to the green river, the fest will feature live entertainment, children’s activities, amazing food and beer from local restaurants and much more. The event is free and pets are welcome. It starts at 10:30 a.m. March 19 and ends at 4 p.m.
