TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — This one-of-a-kind Gem of Tampa Bay is located inside a historic Hyde Park home.
It is named Jet City Espresso and owner Jessica Conlan has been serving fresh coffee out of the home for almost 14 years.
The home was built in 1908 and the inside walls are covered in dollar bills.
“Every dollar bill in there is special,” Conlan said. “It has a personal message from whatever person put it up there, it stays in that spot.”
Nowadays customers usually enjoy their cup of joe or breakfast sandwiches outside on the front lawn.
“It’s cozy, it’s a house,” she said. “You walk into a house and you just feel like you’re at home. I do make people feel that way I want them to feel like it’s their home too.”
Conlan opened up the first Jet City Espresso location in Seattle in the 90s, then moved to Tampa Bay where more locations were opened.
Ultimately, the Jet City Espresso location in Hyde Park is the only one that remains.
“Carried the same blend, roast for a little more than 40 years,” Conlan said.
The shop served all types of coffee drinks, including the Cafe Borgia, which is espresso with local honey and orange blossom.
Jet City Espresso is located at 318 South Edison Avenue in Tampa.
The shop is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
