WEEKI WACHEE, Fla. (WFLA) — A person who was wanted after a woman was found dead inside a Weeki Wachee home Sunday afternoon has been taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Shauna Urive, 23, was found with the victim’s stolen vehicle in Pasco County, deputies said.

Urive allegedly confessed to killing the victim, deputies said.

Deputies were called at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday to a home on Darts Street after a woman was reported missing. Family members were contacted by the woman’s friend who was concerned she hadn’t seen her in several days.

The woman was found in the “advanced stages of decomposition” inside a bedroom, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies “immediately noted suspicious circumstances surrounding the death,” and that the woman’s significant other — later identified as Urive — was missing, along with the victim’s car, according to the sheriff’s office.

The victim’s identity has not been released.

The death remains under investigation.
