PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (WFLA) – The Pinellas Park Police Department joined the growing list of law enforcement agencies warning about “Pokemon Go.” Police encouraged residents to have fun with the game – but to be safe.
Here’s what the department said on Facebook:
“We are not sure if you have been out driving around tonight or not but please use caution. It seems everywhere we look people are out and about playing Pokemon. One of our officers was on his way home and a saw a line of cars at Town Square Plaza Park and decided to check it out. Our K9 Unit happened to be training there in what appears to be a Pokemon battleground with dozens of people coming and going. Here is a photo of a few players that took time to talk with us and explain the rules of the game. They are pictured here with Ofc Pringle and K9 Nyko. Rumor has it that K9 Nyko is already a level 11.”
“We will have more safety tips for your tomorrow, but as you play, please be respectful of private property, be aware of your surroundings, use caution, and most importantly have fun,” the department added.
