NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro police tased a man after he ran during a field sobriety test Monday morning.
According to an arrest affidavit, 34-year-old Shannon Campbell was speeding down Broadway around 1:30 a.m. When the officer pulled him over, he reportedly got out of his car and started walking away.
The officer told him to get back in his car. Campbell did, but while the officer was calling dispatch to report the traffic stop, Campbell got out of his car and started walking away again.
When the officer caught up with him, he had reason to believe Campbell was under the influence of alcohol, so he gave him a field sobriety test. During that test, Campbell started running toward 12th Avenue.
The officer warned Campbell that he would use his Taser if he didn’t stop running, and when Campbell refused to stop, he was tased. He was treated for minor injuries and is now behind bars.
Campbell is charged with implied consent, DUI and evading arrest.
He is scheduled to be in court Tuesday afternoon.
