A man who is already behind bars in Pasco County is facing new charges, accused of spraying two of his fellow inmates with urine.

Alexander Lanier, 23, was arrested Tuesday afternoon at the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center for an incident that happened last month.

According to an arrest report, on Jan. 5, Lanier used a spray bottle filled with an “unknown substance” to spray two inmates who were standing in their own cells. The report says the liquid hit the victims in the face and got on their uniforms.

Both victims later said the liquid smelled like urine and told deputies they wanted to press charges.

The incident was caught on jail surveillance video and was witnessed by a court service deputy. That deputy later completed a report saying he noted a strong smell of urine coming from the victims’ cells after they were sprayed.

The arrest report says Lanier did not want to answer questions about the incident. He is facing two charges of battery by a jail detainee on a detainee.

Online jail records show Lanier was initially arrested in Pasco County on Nov. 20, 2018, on several warrants.
