WASHINGTON (WHTM) – Hewlett-Packard is recalling about 4,100 HP and Compaq notebook computer batteries that pose a burn and fire hazard.
The company has received 20 reports of batteries overheating. One minor burn injury and 11 cases of minor property damage were reported, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recalled batteries were manufactured in early January 2005 and have a bar code label starting with L3.
Consumers should contact HP to determine if their battery has been recalled, and if it is, receive a free replacement battery.
