We are now officially less than 3 weeks away from Rays’ regular season opener against the Houston Astros.
As we know, Blake Snell, will start on March 28th. The Astros’ Justin Verlander will start for Houston.
On Friday, the Rays played the Minnesota Twins in Fort Myers.
From a pitching standpoint, Jake Faria started on the mound. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits through two innings.
Rays Scoring Plays:
Top of 1: Ji-Man Choi opened up the scoring with a homer to right center field.
Top of 4: Willy Adames homers, scoring Choi. Rays led 3 to 2.
Top of 5: Avisail Garcia doubles, scoring Brandon Lowe. Rays up 4 to 2.
Top of 7: Jake Smolinski with a solo shot to left field. Rays 5 to 4.
However in the bottom of the 8th, Twins’ Wynston Sawyer scored on a sacrifice fly, tying the game at 5.
And this game ends tied at 5.
Injury News:
Manager Kevin Cash said Matt Duffy should return to the lineup on Saturday. He’s been dealing with a sore hamstring
