NORTH LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) – A woman who stole Christmas packages off of a porch in North Lakeland will face a judge on Thursday.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said Brandi Sumner, 43, allegedly stole the packages on Dec. 1.
Detectives learned Sumner would be in the area of Duff Road and Highway 98 North on Wednesday.
They located Sumner, attempted a traffic stop, but they say she fled from them, striking a fence as she drove away.
Detectives attempted to pursue her, but she was allegedly driving so erratically and attempted to hit one of the patrol cars with her van. The pursuit was canceled.
Sumner was found a short time later walking along Concord Lane.
When deputies approached, she attempted to run, but was apprehended and taken in to custody.
The sheriff’s office said she was in possession of methamphetamine and oxycodone at the time of her arrest.
Sumner is charged with six felony warrants for violation of probation, six counts of failure to appear, grand theft, resisting without violence, fleeing to elude, driving without a license, suspended or revoke-habitual offender, criminal mischief/damage property, two count of aggravated assault on a law enforcement office/firefighter/EMT, possession of paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine.
Officials said she has 33 prior felony arrests, 35 prior misdemeanor charges and has been in the Polk County Jail 20 times previously.
