CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A pedestrian was hit and killed in a crash on U.S. 19 in Citrus County on Wednesday morning.
A spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened at U.S. 19 and Dixieland Street.
Officials said, Harold Buskirk III was laying in the outside, northbound lane of U.S. 19 for “unknown reasons.”
Officials said it was “dark and foggy” and Buskirk was hit by one vehicle and then another, which were both traveling northbound on the highway. Both vehicles came to a stop after Buskirk was hit.
Buskirk died from his injuries on the scene.
The northbound lanes of Highway 19 were closed at Longfellow Street while troopers investigated. The road has reopened.
No other details have been released.
