ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) – A fire that sparked Friday morning spread to nearby vegetation and came close to an International Drive apartment complex.
The fire was reported around 11:15 a.m. in the 12500 block of Daryl Carter Parkway, near International Drive. The blaze started as a transformer fire, officials said.
Fire officials said the blaze had initially been contained, but flared up for a second time and then spread to nearby vegetation.
As of 4:45 p.m., the fire had grown to approximately 475 acres, Florida Forest Service Officials said. Forest Service officials said the fire is 55% contained.
Several units at a nearby apartment complex were evacuated and Orange County fire officials said two structures at the Sheraton Vistana Villages Resort were evacuated.
Fire officials said that evacuation orders were lifted late Friday afternoon, but crews will stay on the scene overnight.
Crews with the Florida Forest Service and Orange County Fire Rescue are battling the fire.
Authorities are asking people to avoid the area of I-Drive and Daryl Carter Boulevard until further notice.WHAT OTHERS ARE CLICKING ON-
