TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Governor Ron DeSantis spoke at an elementary school in Mary Esther Thursday morning to tout the state’s advancements in childhood education.
The governor reiterated his promise to replace the FSA with progress monitoring. At a press conference a day earlier, DeSantis said, “we come to not praise the FSA but to bury it.”
According to a previous report, DeSantis siad, “By eliminating FSA and transitioning to progress monitoring, we are really going to help bolster the conversations between parents and teachers so they can work together to make sure our kids succeed.”
Under the state law, test results must be provided to teachers within a week and parents within two weeks, to allow “real-time intervention before it’s too late.”
The governor was also joined by outgoing Commissioner of Education Richard Corcoran.
