POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Lakeland woman was arrested Wednesday, months after she allegedly hit and killed a 22 year old woman parked on Ellis Avenue in Unincorporated Lakeland.

According to previous reports, the crash happened on June 20, around 2:15 a.m. when 54-year-old Lisa Breeding of Lakeland drove a 2001 Buick Century head-on into another vehicle.

Months later, investigators said they reviewed the crash data recorder in Breeding’s car which showed she was driving 83 miles per hour when she collided with another vehicle.

Authorities added that the speed limit in the area was 25 mph, meaning Breeding was driving at more than three times the speed limit.

In addition, investigators said a blood sample taken from Breeding immediately after the crash showed significant amounts of Alprazolam, Amphetamines, and Methamphetamines, rendering her impaired at the time of the crash.

“I don’t know how many times I have to say this – there is never a reason to drive impaired,” Sheriff Grady Judd said. “Because of this woman’s reckless actions, a family has lost a loved one. Please, don’t get behind the wheel of a vehicle if you are impaired. Call a friend or family member – or take advantage of a rideshare program. This is for your safety and the safety of others on the roadway.”

Breeding was arrested for DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, DUI with serious injury and DUI with property damage. She is currently in the Polk County Jail and being held with no bond.
