NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (WFLA) – The allegations sound familiar.
Charlene and Kurt Leichssenring say James Lineback gained their trust by cutting trees in their neighborhood. Then he offered to do electrical work and flashed a piece of paper that looked like a license.
“He had all the right things. Knew all the right things to say and everything seemed okay. You know, you like to really trust people once in a while. Well, that’s one you shouldn’t have,” said Charlene.
Charlene says James mentioned that he was working with his father. But Pasco County officials say James doesn’t have a license and isn’t working under anyone else’s in their county.
8 On Your Side found that James’ father, Harold Lineback, is licensed with the state as a contractor but is not currently licensed to do work in Pasco County.
We went to his Dade City home, the address James reported to the Department of Corrections upon release.
No one answered, but Harold Lineback did answer the phone. He said his son has never worked for him and he feared any bad publicity that could reflect negatively on his license.
Harold Lineback said his son has never worked for him.
“I’m floored. I’m speechless. I feel like I’m going to throw up,” he said.
