TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Shari Mayfield and her husband found a bag of pet ashes in their Lakeland neighborhood, and now they are determined to find the owner and reunite them with their pet’s remains.
Shari posted photos of the ashes on Facebook. She knocked on neighbor’s doors to share the news. She even made a sign and posted it near the entrance of the neighborhood.
Shari also tracked down the man who owned the cremation facility but no records exist to help her find the owners.
So she decided she’d Better Call Behnken for some help spreading the word.
“I know if this was my animal in that bag, I would want someone to help find me,” she said. “I wouldn’t want the ashes in the trash, so I will not throw them away.”
The bag is in pristine condition and Shari hopes it just fell out of someone’s car.
