By now, you may have forgotten about signing onto a class-action lawsuit regarding robocalls in August. But since two million people did, chances are good that you or someone you know is included.
And if you submitted a claim, now is the time to take the next step. So check your spam folders.
If you have an email with the subject line: Charvat vs. Resort marketing group, you need to act fast. If you don’t prove the impacted phone number was yours between 2009 and 2015, you will be kicked out of the settlement.
This lawsuit was settled for $12.5 Million. The court ruled you could get up to $900 if you have multiple phone numbers that were included in the case. But keep in mind, that depends on the number of victims who file claims.
This all stems from when telemarketers illegally offered “free” vacations on either Carnival, Royal, Caribbean or Norwegian Cruise Lines.
Here’s what’s going on: The court authorized what is called a supplemental notice, meaning there’s another hurdle before you can collect any money.
That’s because two million people filed claims and lawyers argue some of those are fraudulent.
So what do you need to do now? You need to submit proof, like a phone bill, phone contract or your number or name in a phone directory. You have until May 1 to do this and you can upload your information on this website.
