8 On Your Side’s Better Call Behnken got results for a St. Petersburg family dealing with a light pole and anchor they said was dangerously close to their driveway.
“This is what we wanted all along,” said Kristine Foreman, as workers from Duke Energy worked to move the pole and anchor.
Foreman worked for two years to get the city of St. Petersburg and Duke to help her.
After getting the runaround, she knew she’d Better Call Behnken.
She was fed up that family members and friends kept backing into the anchor in the dark, and her elderly father fell over the anchor and hurt his arm.
“They want the city to pay for it, and the city wants Duke to pay for it,” she said.
Foreman said Duke finally did offer to move the pole and attached anchor, but said she’d have to pay at least $1,800.
“They are usually on the corner… They are not usually at the edge of a driveway,” Foreman said.
We called Duke and the city and were promised a safety review. Weeks later, the new pole and anchor were installed.
“This will be so much safer,” Foreman said.
